Ahhhhhh...one of the best albums

This album has been a mainstay of mine ever since high school in the late 80s.

All the songs are amazing but would have to say top 3 remain as:
-always the sun-- to listen to this driving along a coast on a beautiful sunny day conjures up a magical mind
-too precious-- just sublime with amazing guitar
-Mayan skies-- misty magical lyrics that tell an awesome tale with an amazing background rift

Stranglers Maturing

Got the album, saw the tour (UK & US), and bought the t-shirt!

Liked the album a lot and takes me right back to October 96

The Last Good Stranglers Album, Amen

This was the last of the smooth sound Stranglers albums as well as the last of The Stranglers albums worth hearing. Just about everything the Stranglers recorded after this album was dull. I like listening to Dreamtime. Most certainly it is incredibly more MOR than their first four albums. But Hugh Cornwell sings and writes most of the tunes here, and he is in good form. The album is a bit like what Hugh Cornwell recorded on his own than an actual Stranglers album. The jewels here are the first two songs, 'Always The Sun' and 'Dreamtime'. This is an extended version of the album with the last six songs being stuff taken from the contemporary singles. I particularly like 'Dry Day' and 'Burnham Beeches'. It's not a great album, but it's got a few gem songs and its enjoyable.

Of the four founding members, only Hugh Cornwell had any kind of recognizable historical pedigree, having played alongside Richard Thompson in the schoolboy band Emil & the Detectives. According to Thompson, their repertoire stretched from "Smokestack Lightning" and...
