Album Review

On Driving Home Cheryl Wheeler has finally got the natural sounding production that her material needs. Her melodies are highly ornamented and shine through. The distinctive nature of her voice is never overshadowed by synthesized sound as on previous albums. As in the past the material is often humorous, as in "Don't Forget the Guns," commercially romantic; "Silver Lining" and heart-warmingly beautiful; "Arrow." This is an excellent album.

What a Find..

Chery Wheeler brings "chill" music to a whole new level. Her voice is amazing and the music and lyrics just pull you in on her vocal journey. Just get the album... pour a cup of tea and see the ups and downs of your life pass before you.

Bought over and over

Ever since I saw Cheryl at the Kerrville Folk Festival (TX) in the mid 90s, I have bought every CD she has done. Driving Home, Ms. Pinocci's Guitar and recently Pointing At The Sun are the 3 best in my opinion. I'm going to see her in St. Augustine in 5 days, and I'm counting them! Having recently moved here, most of my things are in storage in TX, and somehow the box with her CDs got left in the wrong pile and went to storage. YIKES! No Cheryl?

So, I'm here on iTunes buying music I already own. That should tell you to get this album without hesitation. Don't ever pass up a chance to see her live. You won't be sorry. I've lost count of the times I've bought Driving Home, and Ms. Pinocci's Guitar as I've given them to friends and misplaced them because they are always out of the cases in CD players, etc. I will be 57 in 2012, and I'm changing careers again, so when she sings that Ms. Pinocci taught herself to "play the guitar at 57, and now I guess she's 20 years older" gives me hope and a sense of hope for my future. Thank you Cheryl.

I really want Cheryl for a next door neighbor and best friend! Who wouldn't?

Known for her comic as well emotionally intense songs, folk singer/songwriter Cheryl Wheeler was raised in Timonium, Maryland, and began playing the guitar and ukulele as a child. She first performed professionally at a local restaurant, but soon graduated to clubs in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas.
