Magical!
This collaboration between Carmen McRae and Betty Carter is absolutely OFF THE CHAIN! I bought this CD when it first was released and fell in love with it immediately. The improvisation and timing of each lyric between these two is MAGICAL! Each song is special, but my favorites are Stolen Moments, Am I Blue (Ms. McRae's improvisation and timing of the lyrics is witty and humorous), Isn't It Romantic (Ms. Carter's intro to this song is fantastic), Sophisticated Lady (Ms. McRae & Ms. Carter's delivery of the lyrics and timing/humor is perfection), and It Don't Mean a Thing (Ms. Carter's DO-WOP scats at the end are incredible). These two legends and pioneers of jazz delivers with a MIGHTY PUNCH on this one. If you don't have this.....GET IT! Hmmm...maybe we can get Dianne Reeves and Dee Dee Bridgewater to do a collaboration like this. Now that would be MAGICAL as well! Just a thought! PGarage....aka Chuck
