Just Wonderful
It's amazing how Dvorak's music has been expressed in so many movies over the years, and understandbly so. You will enjoy this classic masterpiece, well done by the London Symphony. I sampled several of Dvorak's symphonies on iTunes and felt that the London Symphony and the producers of this album did a magnificent job over the rest of the field. Enjoy...
Kudos
Hands down the best rendition of Dvorak's 9th I have ever heard....and I've heard quite a few!!
Excellent
I admit, I am probably a little biased towards Dvorak, because of our shared Czech heritage, but I love his 'New World Symphony' in every sense. This piece holds a speical place in my heart, as it was the very first piece of music I can remember that told me a story without words. From the sweetness found in the first and second movements, to the tumultuos third and majestic finale, the immigrant story is perfectly rendered into music. This recording by the London Symphony Orchestra does the best job, in my opinion, of understanding and conveying the many emotions found throughout Dvorak's 9th Symphony. I highly recommend this recording to anyone who appreciates music as art. (I also recommend Dvorak's Slavic Dances, if one can find a good recording of it.)
