Nice organic tones
If you are a fan of Ambient music, this is a nice selection. The tones used are very pure sounding, and not overdone. Track one "Tropical Ridges" has a somewhat organic pulse with a beat made out of what sounds like a marble rolling around, or a small ball bearing. The songs have a minimal, dark, almost sad feeling to them with a hint of glitch here and there. One thing that sets this record apart from many of its kind, are the relatively short track lengths, most being around 4 minutes. I don't give this record 5 stars because of the overuse of certain sounds, namely a pluggo plugin that is pretty obvious if you've ever used it before. Also there is a really bad trumpet sample on "White on White" that just sounds too fake, or not fake enough, if you can understand that, although, the track itself is one of the best on the record. Overall, Early Morning Migration is a fine addition to the thinking listener's library.
Gets five just because its been awhile...
Yeah, its been awhile since I heard any decent abient music. This is actually imaginative and different. It's not just electro for electro's sake either, they actually have a goal in mind it seems, a very focused effort. Just like nature, sometimes its relaxing, easy to comprehend, other times things are hidden and unsettling, the littlest noises seem thunderous. This cd captures some of those moods of being in nature, the way it can surround you and dominate you by just tickling your senses.

i didn't understand this album until i was home sick one day and listened to it on repeat for hours. if you are in the mood to just sit and listen this album will fill you up.
