THE BEST NEW ARTIST OF 2007 - what an INCREDIBLE VOICE

Buy the whole album! Emily King is one of the most original singer/songwriters to emerge on the scene this year. I'm so happy her album is finally on the shelves! Her voice is beautiful, moving, soulful and the subject matter is real. She plays her own instruments, sings, AND writes her songs, what a refereshing change! This young lady is absolutely talented. I hope she goes far. There are some absolutely STAND-OUT tracks on this album, which has been carefully written and recorded over the last two years. In my opinion the stand out tracks are: - U & I - a melodic, joyful insight into young love. This is the first Emily King song I ever heard, and it remains my favorite. - Colorblind - a very beautiful personal song about Emily's growing up in life as a mixed-race child. I can personally say, this song HITS HOME about some very serious race issues. Beautifully done. - It was You - a beautiful and sad song about love with a subtle latin influence. This song will stay on your mind and in your playlist. - Moon - a beautiful and melodic (and memorable!) latin-infused song about lovers apart. Emily's voice on this one is almost hypnotic. - Walk in My Shoes - a great song! A fun track with hip-hop beats (Biggie Smalls!) intermixed into a defiant challenge to anyone who thinks they know how "easy" it is to be a singer/songwriter, especially one named Emily King. - Ain't no Sunshine - This is the first cover of the original Bill Withers classic "Aint No Sunshine when Shes Gone" that I have actually LIKED, Emily does justice to the spirit and intent of the song, although she has changed the words slightly to "Aint no Sunshine when He's gone". The music includes some dub-overs of the original music score from the Bill Withers song and it is OUTSTANDING. A big favorite of mine. Overall, the entire album is wonderful, and its catchy, easy to sing along to. I really respect what this young artist is bringing to the world of music. I hope to see more of her in the future. You really need to buy the entire album in order to get the true experience.

This is a very refreshing CD. She has amazing talent and this CD is a must-have. Walk In My Shoes is my theme song right now.

I had the pleasure of "reviewing" a few singles from Emily's debut through her producer Chucky Thompson. People support this artist--I purchased my iTunes download as soon as I heard she was available. She is an AMAZING talent! Ms. King will give this genre some much needed energy. Congrats Emily!
