iTunes Review
With 2005’s In Your Honor, the Foo Fighters distinctly divided their approach into acoustic and electric collections that helped the band fully explore their disparate influences without watering down either approach. For the follow-up, 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace, the group string their various approaches together for what flows as a naturally stylistically diverse album, comfortable expressing its angst with distorted guitars and emotionally charged pleading (“But, Honestly”) or with the piano and gentle orchestration of the album’s closing ballad (“Home”). Singer Dave Grohl has always seemed most comfortable leading a hard rock charge, and “The Pretender,” “Cheer Up, Boys” and “Long Road to Ruin” are readymades for the Foo Fighters’ live assault. However, the album’s most surprising and affecting moments are the subdued shades of the whispered forecasts of “Stranger Things Have Happened” and the duet with acoustic guitar virtuoso Kaki King for “Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners,” where Grohl displays an emotive range that establishes him as a first-rate singer, in case there was any doubt.

Great!!
by hi my name is @#&%$(A great mix of heavy and soft songs. Whoever said however that Home is not good is half right. It's the worst track on here but is still kinda good. Come Alive is VERY CATCHY. Be warned!!! I'm in a band, and after I listened to it I could'nt stop writing in that melody. It is a good song like the rest of the album. Enjoy!!!!!!
P.S. Let It Die has many shockers. Good ones.
Foo fighters
by The beatles rule! The foo fighters are one of the best bands in musical history. This album is awesome. The best song on here is probably long road to ruin
They just get better and better
by joy345908I wasn't sure what to expect of this album. But I ended up being blown away by each and every song. I believe without a doubt this is the FF best album when it comes to musically. It's diverse all around and any die hard fan of these guys will surely dig this record. I'll break each song down for you.
The Pretender-9/10-The Pretender was the hit single and became an instant Foo classic. It's driving energy gets the blood pumping and and simply puts you in a great mood. They couldn't have started the record any better.
Let It Die-10/10-From the acoustic finger-picking and soft vocals to the smashing guitars and screaming at the end, this song builds up beautifully and has become very radio friendly. One of my personal favorites.
Erase/Replace-9/10-Powerful guitar and banging drums make it one of the heaviest songs on the record. Interesting lyrics and shows FF has as much energy as ever.
Long Road to Ruin-9/10-A great chorus with some brilliant lyrics. It's become very popular and I can see why.
Come Alive-10/10-The finger-picking is back with a different type of guitar tuning. Amazing how it builds up and I simply love the force at the end of the song and the beginning that is so peaceful. A favorite FF song of all time.
Stranger Things Have Happened-10/10-Grohl really outdid himself acoustically on this record. A great verse with a booming chorus, yet it's kept quiet. Even a remarkable acoustic solo as this becomes another genius effort by Grohl.
Cheer Up, Boys-8/10-A very upbeat song with a great guitar solo. Not the strongest on the album but it fits right in.
Summer's End-9/10-Not just because of the title, but it is a great song to listen to in the summer. Takes place of Grohl and a lover and has some superb lyrics. A overall terrific song.
Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners-8/10-This is some outstanding guitar that simply puts you in a peaceful place. There are no lyrics but they aren't needed in the song, the guitars do the talking.
Statues-8/10-The piano is first taken into play here. It's a very good song and very different from what you're used to from these guys. But still a well composed song.
But, Honestly-10/10-My favorite from the record. The acoustic guitar intro to the electrifying riff by Shiflett, to the pounding drums of Hawkins, I believe it's the best all around song and has become my favorite song by these guys of all time.
Home-9/10-A beautiful ballad with beautiful lyrics. The piano and strings make this song moving. A perfect closer.
They opened it perfectly and closed it perfectly. Foo Fighters best work to date. Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grcae-9/10
