Album Review

Since heavy metal is often thought of as the chief musical choice of teenage rock fans, it would only seem natural that there would be bands comprised of members still in or barely out of their teenage years. Case in point, Sonic Syndicate, as several members of the Swedish sextet had not yet passed the "20-year-old mark" when their debut full-length, Eden Fire, appeared in late 2005. One of the few modern-day metal bands to be multi-gendered, Sonic Syndicate follows the same game plan as many a band seen on Headbangers Ball: hardcore vocals, metallic riffs and beats, and goth keyboards are all easily detected. Immediately upon hearing such tracks as the album opening "Jailbreak" (no relation to the Thin Lizzy song of the same name), "Zion Must Fall," and "Where the Black Lotus Grows," the words "heavy" and "brutal" should immediately come to mind. But again, there's not a lot separating the group sonically from countless other metal bands on the scene. That said, it is impressive that a band possessing such young members could easily match up to the majority of the competition of the early 21st century metal world.

More of Sweden's finest!

I htink that this album is one of the greatest debuts ever! Sonic Syndicate have brought around a new sort of Swedish metalcore flourishing with melodic keyboards. The band take much of the same death metal riffs known from their countrymen In Flames, but still pull it off in an origional way.

How do people not know about them?...

Another example of amazing Swedish metal (In Flames, Soilwork, Scar Symmetry to name a few others). If these guys could get more exposure, they'd be huge without a doubt. All the songs on Eden Fire are amazing, with Jailbreak and Soulstone Splinter being my favorites. I'll be looking forward to new material they release in the future. Buy this if you want some good metal to add to your collection.

Great album from an unknow band.

This band is really good, both of their cds. even though their style changes alot in them. but change is good and it just gets better. i think this band will come together for greatness in the end. but anyway, buy this cds if you like melodic death metal. thsi is some of the hardest and sofest stuff ive heard in a while. buy it, you wont regret it.
