Isham Surprises Again!!
People, especially the younger pop-song lovers, need to understand that when a film is made, the director hires a film composer to compose the orchestral music to not only accompany the film, but to make the scenes even better. Imagine Apollo 13 without the incredible music by James Horner as Tom Hanks and the astronauts blast into space during the launch....Film SCORES, not pop songs, are what can make a movie great. Mark Isham has been known for years as a more subdued, quieter composer who hasn't gotten much attention, but lately he's been composing like crazy!! Eight Below is a fantastic score, right up there with his score for Racing Stripes. FANTASTIC use of a full orchestra! Really interesting and good music!!!
Maybe a serious review w/something intelligent to say?
Mark Isham continues a string of understated scores that simply get the job done. His music is enjoyable, and comfortable, but at times seems to lack ambition. The true proof of a good score is how well it blends into the film, and I have not yet taken this score in within its proper context.
Clean
This is the perfect CD for spending a day or night locked in a warm and cozy cabin. Leave the dogs on the porch it could get hot.
