Accesible ambient electronic
This CD was my first purchase of Ms. Morgenstern. I came across her name in a "Playlist" column written by Imogen Heap for the New York Times. Ms. Morgenstern, at least on this outting, is no Imogan Heap. But I can see why Imogen Heap likes her and her unique aesthetic style. This album is accessible electronic music that moves between a traditonal song structure and more ambient sounds. The chords also move between bright sounds and darker sounds. Like the album cover, the music is grey at times with a possible forboding that is kept in check by the rays of sun peaking through. The music is beat driven and almost danceable at times. Based on this EP, I plan to buy more of Barbara Morgenstern. I can't understand German so I don't know what the titles mean. There's no singing so German is not a prerequisite.
