Customer Reviews
Lana Lane does it again - and then some!
Lana Lane has more than paid her dues in the music business, and her latest musical gift "El Dorado Hotel" further cements her as one of the elite purveyors of progressive rock. Regarded as prog's "Diva", Lana has always stunned us with her powerful vocal attack, and "EDH" more than delivers in this department. What really makes this album sublime is her songwriting. Already a talented vocal and music writer, Lana has managed to finesse her craft with songs that are intricate yet not in the bombastic overly contrived trap that some prog acts fall into. The lead track "A Dream Full Of Fire" amazes you right out of the gate with its epic but lively vibe. The title track's subtle Latin influence fuels a burgeoning musical intensity, graced by the interplay of Bruce Bouillet and Neil Citron on the nylon string and electric guitars respectively. The lush, mellower brushstrokes of "Darkness Falls" and "Hotels" are juxtaposed to wonderful affect with the heavier rockers like "Life of the Party" and "Gone are the Days". Along with Bouillet and Citron, Lana is joined by other collaborators known for their stellar musicianship including bassist John Payne, drummer Jay Schellen, guitarist Mark McCrite, NS/Chapman stick expert Don Schiff, and husband/co-writer Erik Norlander with his keyboard wizardry. If you haven't experienced Lana Lane's music just yet, "El Dorado Hotel" will make you realize what you've been missing. And if you already know and love Lana's work, El Dorado Hotel will assure you the lady still has it!
