When Jimi Hendrix wanted you to feel something, you felt it. There was no need for surround sound if he decided to pull you into a watery world that began with a stoned rainy afternoon and wound up somewhere near Atlantis. Electric Ladyland might as well have invented the concept of "sprawl" for rock albums; next to it, the White Album feels like one of those 25-minute stadium sets the Beatles used to play. Often cited as the only album to fully capture Hendrix's widescreen ideal, its range allows him to singe your fingers (the two radically different versions of "Voodoo Chile"), preach some mutant Dylanisms ("All Along the Watchtower"), and bring the party in full effect ("Come On Part II"). This one communicates, for sure.

by the_godfatherlatinothere is probably not another album that can touch this...the experimentation that jimi used in this album was amazing..the whole "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" song is quite possibly one of the most amazing songs ever..jimi was extremely underrated as song writer and i think this album shows the amazing skill he had at writing lyrics..

This album right here...yes this album demonstrates why Jimi Hendrix is a god.A concept of album of not a story (well somewhat of a story)...but of sounds...sounds so genuine and psychadelic that once the album is done playing...you're left saying "WOW! What a trip that was!" With experimental songs like "Voodoo Chile", Little Miss Strange", and "1983...(A Merman I should Turn To Be)" showing what Jimi does best, and who can forget the classics like "All Along The Watchtower" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" and of course "Crosstown Traffic". Pick this album up and get ready for the tip of a lifetime...a trip to the wonderful Electric Ladyland.
