iTunes Review
Jimi Hendrix released just three studio albums during his brief life, but each represented a major statement from one of rock's most innovative musicians. This 1968 double LP features layers of instrumentation that demand headphone listening. Hendrix explores various styles, and the recording studio itself is a major contributor to the Experience. "Crosstown Traffic" is blazing hard rock. "Voodoo Chile" is expert blues. "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" compacts the original loose jam into a knockout punch. Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" is reinterpreted and completely taken over. "1983 . . . (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)" is a beautiful anthem of pure Technicolor. "Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland)" foreshadows early-'70s soul music, while "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" takes the psychedelic '60s and shakes them up with tingling results. There's clearly nothing Hendrix can't do. The only limits are physical—and even there, he seems to transcend with a dexterity second to none. The bonus footage here provides an intimate study of the making of the album. Essential.

I've been to Electric Ladyland...and I never wanna leave
This album right here is a timeless classic that will surely stand the test of time...Electric Ladyland is one of Jimi Hendrix's greatest albums and of the best albums to come out in the late 1960's. A concept album of sounds ranging from awesome guitar solos and rythym sections to the harpsichord to kazoo to keyboards and everything else under the sun. Truely experimental from the one of the greatest guitarists of all time. The greats are all on here packaged neatly within this album from the classic 15 minute jam of "Voodoo Chile" to the Jimi's greatest song of all "All Along The Watchtower" and of course "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)". A couple of underrated gems also deserve some light, "Little Miss Strange", "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" should also take some notice, and who can't forget "Crosstown Traffic"? Great and wonderful album that it is, should be listened to not only musicians, but everybody else that enjoys a good record.
Incredible
I can't believe I am the first to write a review!! But anyway this is an absolutely fantastic album from start to finish. In my opinion, it is the best The Jimi Hendrix Experience has ever done. All of the songs on this album go together so nicely to create what is a fantastic album. Best song: All Along the Watchtower. But you should buy the album. A must have for any Hendrix fan (he only made 3 studio albums). So buy it, listen, and be blown away.
