Better Than The First Record
I liked the first Munich Syndrome record, which a friend of mine gave me several years ago. They're very much like an American version of the French band Air. This second record has similar instrumental chill tracks, like closing "Between Nothingness and Eternity", that are at least as good as the instrumentals off the previous record. But this record features more vocodered vocal tracks, and has an edgier, uptempo feel, more like what you'd traditionally think of as techno. "Dance (Ah Eee Ya Ya Ya Ya)" seems to be the most popular track off the record, but I think the New Order-esque "Love and Dancing" is even better. A new mix of the wonderfully dark and sarcastic "Modern Age" also appears on this record, and its spiritual sister "Go Away" is a fantastic kiss-off song. Don't get on Munich Syndrome's s***list!
Club magic
This second album from Munich Syndrome expands on the EP material contained as bonus material on the group's first album ("Sensual Ambience") to create a dynamic club-oriented album of dance music. Where the first album was downtempo and jazzy, "Electropop" is high energy dance beats with themes ranging from love to revenge. Once again Munich Syndrome treats us to two versions of one of the songs ("Love and Dancing") that show us the range of the band's virtuosity as well as ensuring that the album is very good value for the money (with more than 70 minutes of music). Another great offering from Munich Syndrome!
