Call it a mix of sandpaper and silk if you like, but no vocal duet has ever sounded sweeter. The sheer joy of their contrasting styles—Ella the perfectionist, Louis the naturalist—brings as much pleasure as almost any jazz record ever. Producer Norman Granz, whose taste in rhythm sections was flawless, hand-selected the supporting players here, and the rest—Louis and Ella’s righteous readings of the some of this century’s greatest songs—is simply heaven on earth.

dripping with class and romance
the entire Verve "For Lovers" series is great but it really doesn't get any better than Louis & Ella together in a set of deeply romantic songs. These 2 icons never sounded better than on these recordings made together. Sets the mood for a perfect evening in, with the lights set low and a favorite wine alongside your honey:) ...don't answer the phone. . . better yet, turn the ringer off
Simply Sophisticated...
I listen to this on my way how from the office or taking a lady out for an evening. Ella has a voice that will never, ever be matched let alone surpassed. Mr Armstrong is a dynamo of jazz and spirit. Incredible duets turn any event black tie. Brilliant composition.
