A new Disney Classic Soundtrack and the return of Alan Menken!
"Enchanted" is obviously supposed to hail Disney's big comeback to it's roots. The soundtrack, with music composed by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz and the score composed by Menken, does bring back some great memories of the great Disney Classics, such as Snow White, Cinderella, and especially the modern classics like "the Little mermaid" and "Aladdin." While the score is solid, the songs do seem a little off. Amy Adams has a great voice, as does James Marsden, but they do have a bit of a cheese factor to them, which is fitting since this movie is intended as a satircal tribute of sorts to the classic Disney Animated classics. Besides teh score, Jon McLaughlin's "So Colse" does bring back the feeling that classic Disney Pop songs likie "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Whole New World" from teh 90's. The first aingle, "ever Ever After" from American Idolist Carrie Underwood isn't without it's charm, but does sound like it could get forgotten with it's more contemporary sound. The video on the other hand, which also features some top notch animation is well worth the watch (and ciomes included with the purchase of this soundtrack!) The Cheesiness does have it's own charm, but can be dissapointing to someone expecting something along the lines of "The Little Mermaid" but as a whole the soundtack definitly holds it's own in the Diisney Classic Canon. Overall, I'm just too excited to hear some new Disney Material from Alan Menken! Defintily some of his best work!! Disney fans and movie score fans can't be dissapointed with this one! Fave tracks: So Close Narissa Arrives (nice additon of a choir to bring on the eveileness!) The Happy Working Song Enchanted Suite and Storybook Ending (Very reminiscent of Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast)
Good
But I just want Ever Ever After : / o well guess I am just gunna have to buy the whole album!
