Simple and beautiful
I heard "Horer Til, I Hoye Himle" well over a year ago on the NPR syndicated show "Pipe Dreams". I am NOT a fan of pipe organ music and generally turn off the radio when this show is on, but this song really caught me. I jotted down a phonetic spelling of the foreign title and waited a long time for it to appear on iTunes. Anne-Lise Berntsen has a clear, pure voice that resonates perfectly in a large chamber. In this performance, she gets three very distinct tones from her throat which keeps the haunting melody interesting and appealing. The pipe organ is very subtle and is the perfect accompaniment. Beautiful track.
