With Enter the Chicken Buckethead goes accessible—for him, anyway. Every incarnation of the Bucketed One appears here: guitar-shredder supreme, avant-garde noodler, demented circus clown. He even sings on a few tracks. The album is as schizophrenic as its creator, ranging from the heavy metal assault of “Botnus” to the (dare we say it) radio-friendly “Running From the Light” and “Waiting Hare,” the latter featuring the vocals of Serj Tankian of System of a Down who also produced the CD. He gets further help from metal screecher Efrem Shulz, Azam Ali of Vas, and, on “Three Fingers,” MC Saul Williams, who deadpan raps over a funk metal groove. Buckethead’s bizarre and irreverent sense of humor is also on display in such songs as “Funbus,” a campy, death metal shot at artists (and listeners) who take themselves too seriously. He does fire off a few of the lightning-speed solos for which he is revered in certain circles, but the emphasis is on the compositions and overall flow of the songs. He may be eclectic, but on Enter the Chicken, he also manages to be focused.

Buckethead is Back!
To be honest when I first heard Buckethead singed on with Serjical Strike I was a little scared. I prayed to God his sound would not be influenced too much by Serj. When I downloaded and listened to the whole album from start to finished I felt relieved.This is probably the most diverse album from Buckethead yet! A span of 10 years of Buckethead versatility all in one package. If you like Bucketheadland 1 & 2, Colma, or even his greatest work CooCoo Clocks of Hell you will love this new album. The singer's on the album do a pretty good job as well and has opened my eyes into their bands. Good Job Buckethead and Serj!
Holy Crap
Now, I have loved System of a Down for a long time, and when Serj gets a new artist on his record deal, I kinda want to get it, not really, but kinda. But I have heard of Buckethead before, I've heard Buckethead before, and it's good. I have no other Buckethead CDs, this is my first, but let me tell you I'll be buying more. With the strangeness of "the Hand", the fastness of "Botnus" and the beautifulness of "Waiting Hare", there is nothing not to like. Like Serj? Buy. Like Buckethead? Buy.
I bought this because I'm a huge fan of album producer Serj Tankian and his work with System of a Down and Serart (HIGHLY recommended). I've tried to track down all of his non-SOAD stuff through the years. I had never really heard of Buckethead, besides his escapades with Guns 'n Roses. Serj brings his friends along on this album, including slam poet-musician Saul Williams, who I think has the strongest track on the album with "Three Fingers." Serj's "We Are One" sounds like an early System of a Down B-side, but his duet with Shana Halligan ("Waiting Hare") is amazing. "Running from the Light" and "Coma" are also wonderful vocal performances paired with Buckethead's guitar, which is (surprisingly) non-metal-y at times. Sometimes the vocals overshadow the KFC-headed-one, but they are so good that you don't care. Overall, I think the first half of the album is far stronger than the later half..."Funbus," "the Hand" and "Botnus" (yeah yeah, track 3) just didn't do it for me. Overall though, Serj's eclectic style comes through well on almost all the tracks, but without overshawdoing Buckethead's guitar skills.
