Album Review

One of the most important Scandinavian metal discs ever, Dimmu Borgir's Enthrone Darkness Triumphant is the group's unquestioned masterpiece. The success of the 1997 offering is probably due to two facts: the band's signing to metal powerhouse label Nuclear Blast and the decision to write their lyrics in English, the universal language of metal. Having Peter Tagtgren man the recording console wasn't a bad decision, either. The producer assisted Dimmu Borgir in creating the most crushing sound of their career. It's difficult to pick standout cuts from Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, as each song is as brutal and musical as the next. The intensity simply never lets up on this release. Fans of Dimmu Borgir and black metal in general are highly encouraged to obtain a copy of this seminal record at the earliest opportunity.

greatest ever

this album has to be one of the best cd dimmu bogir has ever made, with the great spellbound , and also mourning palace. who ever thinks that this cd was bad should just go into a ditch and die.

Enthrone Darkness Triumphant!!!

This IS the old stuff, just that iTunes for being a bunch of dumbasses decides to put albums twice for no apparent reason. Instead, they should put missing albums like "Godless Savage Garden" or the original "Stormblast".

WOW!!!!!

My other review said that this was the best album in Dimmu Borgir's career. Well i take that back today. This is the SECOND best in DB career. The first is the original Stormblast, which i just got today and it blew me away. I expected it to be good but not that good. Anyway this album is still fvcking amazing. If you listened to Stormblast and then this you will see a major difference. First off Shagraths vocals sound different as hell and it doesnt even sound like him. Also the keyboards are much more dominant in Stormblast. Last, this has way better production. Still Stormblast and this are the best DB albums and should both be listened to if you are a fan of Symphonic Black Metal.

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Blending black metal's most brutal tendencies, the melancholic beauty of opera, and industrial metal's production techniques, Dimmu Borgir carved a niche in the metal world as one of the most savage and creative acts to hail from the Norwegian scene. The group first started in 1993, when members Shagrath (vocals), Erkekjetter Silenoz (guitar), and Tjodalv (guitar and drums) came together to join the emerging metal scene. Although some groups like Emperor and Mayhem had already been making noise for...
