Zakir Hussain is a miracle in himself, percussionist par excellence. This is an amazing album that showcases his great wizardy. The Sarangi (violin-like Indian instrument) accompaniment by Sultan Khan is extra-ordinary. A must-have album for lovers of percussion music. I wonder what made Grammy judges choose 'Planet Drum' and not this one! One amazing thing about Tabla Solo music is that you can always play it in the background, regardless of the type of work you are doing. Recently, we were doing a very important software installation and I put this album in the background. It did wonders - there are no words to distract our thought flow, no fixed tunes take our minds away from the work - just rhythmic play and excellent sounds that inspire and provide some kind of a flow/pace to what we do. Very highly recommended. Excellent recording quality.
Outstanding Album
I saw Zakir at Chicago's Symphony Hall last year, and ever since then I have been obsessed with the tabla! He is an amazing percussionist, musician, and entertainer.
