Essence features Peter Kater doing what he does best — symphonic-synth new age with acoustic accompaniment. David Darling's cello, Cecil Hooker's violin, Rhonda Larson's flute, and Chris White's wordless vocals complement Kater's piano and synthesizer quite elegantly. That's a good term for this healing music treasure: elegance. It fits Kater's theme as the deep atmospheres surround listeners with love, grace, harmony, and warmth. This single long-form (75-minute) piece is a delight that will appeal to fans of Dean Evenson, Anugama, Merlin's Magic, and Deuter.

This is one of the most perfect CDs I own in my yoga studio. Just one cut - filled with more than an hour of exceptionally calming music that is ideal for everything from meditation to relaxation, to sleep. You get lost in the subtle waves of musical emotion, but never distracted by jarring changes of pace, unexpected tempo, or volume levels. Believe me when I say you will thoroughly enjoy this CD! It's a must-have!

Peter Kater is awesome and this is a beautiful example of his work...over an hour of meditative piano music without breaks, it flows perfectly for relaxation and meditation. highly recommended.
