Why Not?
My question is -- why not?? Yes, this mix is a departure from Brooke's mellow singer-songwriter tracks as well as her pop/rock work with The Story, but it's not as though she's going to the dark side simply because she let a DJ re-mix one cut. If club play brings some additional peeps into her fan base, then I say go for it. The same move (having a track or two remixed as dance tunes) didn't change the musical direction of Suzanne Vega ("Tom's Diner") or Sarah McLachlan ("Remixed") -- to say nothing of Springsteen and his disco-tinged "Dancing In The Dark" mix -- and I very much doubt that it will change Jonatha's future work either. So just chill and enjoy Brooke's fantastic voice wrapped around the bass beats -- ultimately this isn't a new direction for her, but rather a fun side trip along the way.

People calm down! This is obviously a remix for the clubs and I, being a DJ, is very thankful and appreciative of it. First off it introduces Jonatha to another audience which may have never found her otherwise and an artist can never have too many fans. Two it's called a freakin' REMIX. I'm pretty sure lady Brooke isn't making a turn for the clubs for the rest of her career however with the sound of this remix she certainly would do extremely well with a club/remix album. This is a fresh take on a great song. The music isn't over the top at all and I would love to hear more. THANK YOU, Jonatha for giving the club route a shot and staying true to the "art of creativity" and making "beautiful music". Though I do pity people who are unable to "think, feel, see and HEAR outside of their little boxes!"
