The best recording I've heard this year
I would love to see them at the LA festival!! Sure "Everything Must Change" was recorded back in 2004, but five years later, when I came across their music...I really was convinced this music was just recorded. It's so fresh and futuristic in some ways. There's elements of tradition, aggression, and rhythem that puts so much emotion and contrast in one song. Their ability to do this makes me go crazy...especially when I play this straight through...so many emotions...it's very exciting actually. I saw Orange Blossom in D.C. at GW Lisner. They gave an intense, breathtaking performance and you bet I was up there dancing. They're great live and on disc they are heavenly, full of energy and soul...Download this album and if you like what you hear, check out their other work. They're an experimental band...there's something in their music for everyone! But I'm glad they decided to record in Arabic...it's a strong language and it goes well against the backdrop of samples, loops, beats and that amazing electric violin which comanded and rawked the stage like a guitar! Bravo!
good stuff
This band is going to be playing at Festival Internationale in Lafayette, LA. I've only heard a bit of some of these tracks, but you can watch the video for Habibi.... wonderful stuff. Imagine Portishead performing Tool's "Reflection" with a nine inch nails-esque synth, with a few strings added in for good measure, in a very Middle Eastern sounding vibe. Oh, and they aren't afraid to throw down, so to speak, either. I am eager to see this band live....
Throbbing Beats with a soothing voice!!!
Mixing beats with a violin, this band produce's one of the most unique style's seen in Europe. I was able to catch them this weekend at Festivale International in Lafayette, LA. Il est MAGNIFIQUE!
