Album Review
Everywhere, Tim McGraw's fourth album, finds the vocalist in a bit of a rut, following the same formula of slick ballads and measured rockers that made his second record, Not a Moment Too Soon, a blockbuster success. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since he remains an appealing singer when he has the right material, such as on the single "It's Your Love." In fact, it's the ballads that work better here; they prove truly outstanding and even moving: "You Just Get Better All the Time," the title track, and "I Do But I Don't." When he has a lesser tune, however, the results are bland and uneventful "Hard on the Ticker" is an example. Those songs don't prevent Everywhere from being a pleasant listen, and it satisfied his legions of fans well enough, but it did suggest that he should break free from these constraints and move toward the excellence he was capable of and eventually delivered. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine & Thom Jurek, Rovi

The Best
This album is Tim's best. Every album after this one will be compared to "Everywhere". It included 7 songs that made the country chart and one of them "Just To See You Smile" spent 6 weeks at No.1 and 42 weeks on the chart. Included are 2 songs that weren't released, "I Do But I Don't" & "You Just Get Better All The Time" I Do is about a guy who just can't go back to the way things used to be. Better All The Time is probably his best love song out there. When he sings "If only you could see you through my eyes", that's what it's all about.
Good, But Not Great
These are pretty good songs, but it seems to me that they just don't have as much feeling as those in "Set This Circus Down." But there are a few exceptions: "Where The Green Grass Grows," "Eveywhere," and "It's Your Love" (Duet with wife, Faith Hill). Also "Just To See You Smile" and "You Just Get Better All The Time" sound emotional and deeply felt.
