Album Review

For the most part, as far as the genre of death metal goes, there is Cannibal Corpse, and there is a bunch of copycats. You know you can always count on this veteran metal act to deliver another brutal offering of extreme metal with each new release (in other words, zero chance of any needless stylistic experimentation — the lads like things just the way they are). And this especially rings true on their 2009 release, Evisceration Plague. All the expected elements of a solid Cannibal Corpse recording are present — metronome-like precision drumming, razor-sharp riffing, guttural growls akin to a caveman, and dark lyrics. Go ahead and take a pick of any of the tracks here ("Priests of Sodom," "To Decompose," the title track, etc.), and you're in for an intense metallic onslaught. Evisceration Plague shows that 11 studio releases into their career, Cannibal Corpse remain one gnarly group of metalheads.

Customer Reviews

Death Metal is music for aggressive people, not mellow people

If you really do believe Miley Cyrus is better, then go buy her album, and stop reviewing death metal, because the fact that you feel alienated by aggressive music and relate to a teenage girl singing about slumber parties better, tells me that you didn't belong here in the first place. I don't go onto Britney Spears album and waste time bashing your idol, do I? Apparently you feel threatened by this music in general or you wouldn't have bothered to insult it. Fine, if you don't have any testosterone, then don't listen to testosterone-charged music. I hear the Jonas brothers just dropped an album, go review that. It's more your speed.

DEATH F*&%ING METAL!!!

Cannibal Corpse did an incredible job on this album, theres no excuse not to buy this album, get it now!!!

Death Metal Titans Return

The greatest Death Metal band of all time returns with a vengeance. Fans have waited nearly 3 years for a new album from these guys and they do not disappoint. The entire album is awsome, but the standouts to me are "To Decompose", Evidence in the Furnace", Evisceration Plague", and "Carrion Sculpted Entity". Diehards will love this album but this could also be the bands biggest album to date. Buy it on itunes and buy it at the store. Welcome back Cannibal Corpse!!

"If vomit were a movie, this would be the soundtrack," wrote one critic of Cannibal Corpse's music, some of the most extreme, violent death metal sounds and subject matter ever committed to tape. Reveling in splatter-horror imagery in their often indecipherable lyrics, the group's graphic album artwork and song titles like "Meat Hook S****y," "Entrails Ripped from a Virgin's C**t," "F****d with a Knife," and so on, have — not surprisingly — attracted a fair amount of controversy and sometimes...
