iTunes Review
Def Jam couldn’t have existed without LL Cool J, and LL Cool J couldn’t have existed without Def Jam. After 24 years and 13 albums, Exit 13 brings LL’s contract with the legendary label to a close, thereby ending one of the mightiest, and most mutually beneficial partnerships in hip-hop history. The album finds LL revisiting several of the trademarks he has established over the course of his long career. Loverman rap (“Baby,” “I Fall In Love”), fearsome braggadocio (“It’s Time For War”), and funky, sample-laced tracks underscored by deadly lyricism: “Thorough to the max / Q-borough matter fact / Ice so sharp it cut through your cataracts” (“We Rollin’”). Like many of LL’s later-period albums Exit 13 suffers from an overload of divergent ideas, but a few old school throwbacks bring welcome closure to LL’s tenure with Def Jam. “Rocking With the G.O.A.T.” is a head-knocker that unites LL with his boyhood nemesis Marley Marl, while the slithering “This Is Ring Tone M…” returns rap to the dingy Big Apple birthplace, courtesy of Grandmaster Caz and former EPMD member DJ Scratch. Mr. Smith, you have come full circle.

LL Cool J's EXIT 13 is the what HIP HIP is Missing now a days!
LL COOl J aka James Todd Smith has been rockin the mic since his teenage days 20+ years ago & still he's breakin out hit record like his latest effort EXIT 13! Exit 13 symbolize his last album on Def Jam Records which he helped become one of the biggest record labels ever. Anyway's COOl J really put his all into this record & definatel deliver without tryin too hard. As expected there are goin to be songs about the ladies with such cuts's as Feel My heartbeat, Baby the hit single ft. The dream, I fall in Love & American girl to name a few. As promised LL got back to his roots & brings out his hardcore material that's been missing for a while, & he starts off the album It's Time for war which jus hits hard & is just a warm up of more Hard hittin tracks to come. If u ain't a real LL Cool J fan because he raps mostly about sex & the ladies then guess again because this record is hard Hittin. Here's how he performed on the album: 1. It's Time for war - 5/5 LL show's these clown's what real Hop Hop is, sickest intro I've heard in a minute. 2. Old School New School - 5/5 LL jus rips this beat to threads with his rhymes. 3. Feel My heart beat ft.50 Cent - 4/5 a nice track but 50 was'nt really needed here. 4. Get over Here - 5/5 LL does his thing but the guest spots are the one's that shine here, real nice club joint & single material. 5. Baby ft. The Dream - 5/5 the hit single that's been tearin up the clubs & radio stations, & Ladies definately love. 6. You Better Watch Me - 5/5 LL rips the beat with disregard & the beat is pretty hot as well, kinda sounds like an I Get Money Sample but a way better rapper. 7. Cry ft. Lil Mo - 5/5 8. Baby rock remix - 3/5 the beat is just irritating but the new lyrrics are alrite. 9. rockin' with the G.O.A.T. - 5/5 Classic hardcore LL at his best. 10. this is ring tone m... ft. Grandmaster Caz - 5/5 this is classic LL rippin the miclike a real G.O.A.T should. 11. like a radio ft. Ryan Leslie 5/5Ladies u know this song's for y'all 12. I fall in love ft. Elan of The DEY - 5/5 13. ur only a customer - 5/5 14. Mr. President ft. Wyclef Jean - 5/5 one of the best songs on the album it really has a positive message behind it & the beat is tight as well. 15. American girl - 5/5 LL does what he does & that's makin good songs for the ladies & ladies will love this jus like all his hits. 16. speedin on da highway/exit 13 ft. Funkmaster Flex - 5/5 LL rips this track with his classic flow, real tight. 17. come and party with me ft. Fat Joe & Sheek Louch - 5/5 this is NY rap legends doin their thing & it sounds great. 18. we rollin'- 5/5 19. Dear Hip Hop - the best song on the whole album is the closer, here LL raps about all the negativity surround Hip Hop & how it should be seen in a more positive light. Real nice songs with a powerful message behind it. Best recommended tracks: Dear Hip Hop, Baby ft. the dream, Rockin' with the G.O.A.T, Mr. President, Ring tone Murder, speedin on da highway/exit 13 ft. Funkmaster Flex & get over here!

ll is the most affluent rapper of our time to make it for this long. And still be young to do what he does and appeal to younger crowd. A lot of people may diss ll for his style of rap, but u have to look at the time he came from when hip hop was just rhyme no cursing, or vulgar lyrics. And for him to do it that long without having a fully parent guidance suggested symbol on the cover is magnificent. Yeah i admit i like hardcore rap, but i always respected ll because it wa music that i could play around family members and really young kids. So before you diss ll think twice this man is a pioneer of rap, just like ice t is one of the pioneers of hardcore rap. Plus with 50 producing some tracks with ll i hope ot hear more from him even if he's no longer with def jam. Great job ll, if u read this u do have fans!!! Congrats
ONE OF THE GREATEST!!
LL Cool J's new album "Exit 13" is a definite buy! Don't sleep on this one. For me it was an instant reflex buy. Not only is LL one of the first pioneers of the rap game, not only does he spit right on mark, but he is the most diverse rapper out there, on each album he switches up style and he has something to say. For me and I believe many others, he has never let anyone down with his music and lyrics. This album for me is like going back to the beginning, it is a great feeling. Yeah sure he has had an album or two not as hard or not as great, but good in their own right. But this album Exit 13 just about makes up for all the other ones and it also makes up for all the other rappers really messing up today. Thank LL for coming back and coming back hard!!! You know these cats, like LL, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Nas, Eminem, Jay Z, Tupac R.I.P. , Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, EPMD, Eric B and Rakim, Black Sheep and Gang Star don't just slip away or fade away. They just relax and wait for the right time to hit back. Don't mess with them, they bite hard!! Peace The Jemini LL AKA G.O.A.T
