A Game Changer
It's very rare that a band comes along and changes your perception of music. In fact, in this day and age of disposable wanna-be pop, it's almost unheard of. Don't get me wrong there are some amazing young bands out there (Boxer Rebellion, Lowline, Elbow, Black Angels, BRMC, Darker My Love...ETC) but Exit Calm is of a different breed entirely. This isn't A band, This is THE band and this, their debut, speaks volumes as to their artistic integrity and power. What you get here is 11 tunes that compliment one another so well that the band should get an award for title arrangement alone. This is an album that the 'shuffle' button won't work on. I had the opportunity to fly out to England and see this band perform the album in it's entirety at a homecoming gig in the town of Barnsley. It was a mesmerizing and unforgettable experience. This IS a band to be experienced live but in seeing them I can tell you this album is as close as it gets. They've been quoted as saying that their goal with this record was to capture the energy of their live sets and , with certainty, mission accomplished!!!
A MASTERPIECE!!!!!!
All I can say is...
I haven't heard another band that sounded more like The Verve. Listening to We're On Our Own confirmed that. That's about all I can say.
Like The Verve?
Space rock at it's finest folks! This album is stellar from take off! The band captured a very "LIVE" feel with this record. It's a can't miss!
