Album Review
While the masked rapper has been known to send lip-syncing “Doomposters” to his gigs in his place, MF Doom fans can rest assured that this live album features the real deal. Anyone who bought the limited edition of MM..Food? has the video proof, as much of this album is an audio rip of that package’s bonus DVD. Redundancy aside, this is a fantastic show fans won’t mind revisiting. Act 1 features tracks from MM..Food? (including the killer opener “Hoe Cakes”) and Madvillainy (check the massive version of “Accordion”), while Act 2 features Operation Doomsday-era selections like “Doomsday” and “Hey!” Sound quality is fine and the intermission is entertaining, with the Star Trek character Worf explaining the album’s title with “Expektoration is a common side effect of speaking Klingon.” The bootleg packaging and lack of a track list point to the release’s target audience, Doom regulars looking for something better than 2005’s live album Live from Planet X.
Customer Reviews
Make new music
If Doom wants to make money from album sales he should put out new stuff not a live album with the same songs as his other live album.
Whatever
Between not showing up to shows, and not releasing new music, Doom should step it up a notch. At the same time who the hell Am I to say what he does, being his music he does what he wants. All I ask is, if your going to hype, well deliver!!!!!!!
Great Live Album!!
A lot of idiots aren't even reviewing the album so I'll post up a small review.
This album is takin from DOOM's FOOD Drive Tour at BB Kings in New York and is divided into 2 parts with an intermission in the middle. Act One is tracks from MM FOOD, Madvillainy, and the Prince Paul track People, Places and Things. On Act 2 DOOM runs through classics from Operation Doomsday, and the usual live tracks Change The Beat and The Fine Print closing it out. An interesting about this album is a scattering of strange Klingon audio excepts taken from some Star Trek source.
A lot of people complain about DOOMs hypeman Big Ben Klingon who is also his manager but I don't find him too distracting or annoying. In fact he's DOOM's brother so I find I prefer him over some of the other hypeman I've seen on other DOOM tours.
A nice companion piece to Live From Planet X and just like that album the Villain as good as ever and the sound is fantastic. Highly recommended!
