"...Nothing You Can Do 'Cause I'm Stuck Like Glue..."
I honestly didn't know what to expect from Warpaint since all I had heard was their cover of Bowie's "Ashes to Ashes" on one of Tim Sweeney's radio shows. However, "Billie Holiday," is beautiful, and enchanting and promises to be one of those songs that get stuck in your head. It's kind of like Bon Iver's "Skinny Love," if you mix in a hint of Joni Mitchell with softer, and sweeter vocals.

Literally almost started cutting on myself listening to Billie Holiday! All of the songs here are very good.

A Los Angeles quartet dealing in sparse, atmospheric art rock, Warpaint originally consisted of sisters Jenny Lee Lindberg and Shannyn Sossamon (on bass and drums, respectively), as well as Emily Kokal and Theresa Wayman on vocal and guitar. Sossamon left due to conflicts with her acting schedule and was replaced by Stella Mozgawa. With a dedicated lineup, the band began to experiment with murky spaciousness and stripped-down arrangements, and gained the attention of former Red Hot Chili Peppers...
