Good live album from 1993 reunion

In 1993, Split Enz reunited for a 20th anniversary tour. This is a 2 CD recording from that tour. A single CD version was released in 1997 as "Anniversary". That album, for no obvious reason, included three tracks from the mid-80s "The Living Enz", and no one bothered to match the sound levels or equalization to the rest of the album. Thankfully, those tracks are left out here and 9 other tracks from 1993 have been added. The only loss here is an abortive attempt at "Wail" that led into "Charlie". The overall sound quality is superior to "Living Enz". If you only know the Enz from "I Got You", you'll be surprised to find out how solid a live band they were. "Strait Old Line" and "Hermit McDermitt" are two songs whose studio versions never made any impression on me, but come across great live. "Message to My Girl" is another highlight. (1=poor 2=mediocre 3=pretty good 4=very good 5=phenomenal)

Excellent live Split Enz!

Recorded during one of their reunion tours of New Zealand in the early 90's, this is an excellet live album from the Enz. Originally released as "Anniversary", Extravagenza is even better after being remixed and remastered and also featuring extra songs. The band are extremely tight on this album and these live versions have a bit more muscle than their studio versions. The late Paul Hester, from Crowded House, played drums on this album and is a fine testament to what an incredible drummer he was. Essential for any Enz/Finn fan!
