i take issue with the only other review of my album posted here so far. this record is alot of things. and you might not like it, but

Been done before. BORING.

F*ck That!

This is the sharpest holiday satire I've ever heard.

If you've ever felt uncomfortable around the holidays- the assumption that everyone observes Christmas, the exclusion of people who don't, the awkward family dynamics, the expectation to be happy, and the commodification of everything (will green and red be a trademark soon?), you have to listen and spread the word!

The songs, independent of the above, are also completely singable--if you don't find yourself humming "it's a very queer christmas" after one listen, I'll come carol at your doorstep.

The album has a broad spectrum of genre's and targets, and the music is solid.

Raised in Fredricksburg, VA, singer/songwriter Erin McKeown began her folk career by performing in local clubs and coffeehouses at night. By day, she attended Brown University to study ethnomusicology, a field that would eventually fuel the diversity and depth of her own music. In 1995, McKeown entered the mid-Atlantic song contest held by the songwriters' association in Washington, DC, and finished as a semi-finalist. With proof that others believed in her talent, she worked hard to found a label...
