Album Review
Veteran goth rockers Dreamside make their second attempt at American acceptance with Faery Child. During their initial attempts at reaching American goth audiences, the genre was in a low period and their sound did not appeal to the underground. Europe responded far more warmly, thus three albums were released overseas before they put together Faery Child, a compilation of the songs from these albums that represents their sound. Meant as a sampler for the States, the album features several tracks from each album, as well as remix tracks from Icon of Coil.

The Dreamside will appeal to Goth and New Age music lovers for its smooth integration of exquisite vocals, enchanted subjects, and steady electro orchestra. The Dreamside most certainly has it's roots in the Goth scene, but they also fit into the "New Age" category because they avoid heavy, dark electronic sounds common to most Goth music. While some of the songs are more "techno" sounding, creating a need to dance (or at least do the head-bob,) the album is held together by the vocal talents, which is certainly The Dreamsides most desireable aspect. At the expense of a pure Goth sound, The Dreamside will appeal to a very broad audience.
Faery Child
I came across this album quite by accident. What a lovely discovery it was. The tunes are haunting while the lyrics give pause for thought. An all together enjoyable experience.
