A Small Revelation.
Passionate but never merely sentimental, Karine Polwart's voice shines through on this set of (mostly) traditional scottish tunes. One of my favorite albums in quite a long time -- don't miss the spare beauty of her take on the Robert Burns lyric, "The Lea-Rig," which pretty well undoes me every time I hear it. Remarkable.
I love her music
Karine has such a unique voice. she should be reconized as a great singer/songwrighter. maybe she could be the free song or whatever it is?

Listen to the Death of Queen Jane and see if it doesn't cause goosebumps. Karine is the real deal. There are lots of overproduced pretty voices out there doing "music of the isles". Karine has a dark side to her that captures something authentic and beautiful. You will not be disappointed.
