Customer Reviews
Well, I'm impressed.
This EP has its highs and lows, but "lazy" and "shark attack" are two of the best songs f-pop has ever written. "Starlight" is also gorgeous, and "manipulate" is very good. My issues lie with the remixes (but even there I'm torn) - the Sleeping Dogs mix of "plastic stars" is pretty good, and the lo-fi blips of robotkid's take on "science genius girl" are listenable, although not especially amazing. I'm particularly dissappointed in the promisingly titled "robotron 2002 (All Your Bases Are Belong To Us Remix)." This track mangles the pacing of the original, and just generally bores me. The kodomo remix of "tenisu no boifurendo" is dreamy and fresh, however, and very much reccomended. The album is well organized in terms of tone, and marks a more downbeat version of freezepop than the high-energy bounce of previous albums. A perfect album for coming down from a sugar high, but the only tracks you really need to enjoy this album are the first 5. Now here's my question - what's with the whiny emo-kid tic of never capitalizing your tracks? You guys are better than that, freezepop.
Every Song is Outstanding...
Some of these reviewers are out of their minds; the remixes and originals on this album are completely unbelievable.... I particularly love the robotron 2002 mix....somone reviewed that the remix "ruined the pace of the original"?$%! What does this reviewer think the "pace" should be when the world is ending? The whole vibe is so post-apocalyptic and frightening that it gave me night terrors after listening to it. The Plastic Stars remix is awesome, Shark Attack is a classic, and Manipulate tells the story of my life. All in all, some life-changing moments in these songs...
