Fountain of Tears - Fate
What a surprise! A slow builder for sure. I found the two initial demos I heard to be great, but I was blown away by the album as a whole. I absolutely love Forever lost and Fate. The beauty is in subtleties of the musical layers. There are beautiful harmonies and keyboard passages that balance out the heavy bass and drums that anchor this great work. I especially enjoy the interludes like Entropy and A Descent into the Maelstrom. They add depth and mood that allows the album to continue to flow so well. The elements of progressive rock are very well represented. Joe Daub and Erik Ney are a great Rhythmic team with so many facets of complexity and depth that give the music intrigue. Vonnie and Jeff King are at the top of their game with joyous syncopated melodies and mellow plaintive places to ponder. I appreciated the tasteful solos Mike DiDonato provides to the mix. He elegantly slides his sinuous parts alongside a canvas of hopeful and majestic tapestry. A real treat for the energy and vision that weave their way into the psyche until you can't help hearing the choruses over and over again.
Great female-fronted progressive metal!
Singer Vonnie King has a beautiful voice, and Jeff King's keyboards are outstanding. There are several short instrumental interludes. Some of my favorite tracks are "Corruption," "Falling," "With My Fears," "Desire," and "Ten." Highly recommended!
