The Academy Does It Again - Bravo!
What we, or at least I, always expect from Sir Neville and this firmly established ensemble; angelic perfection. As usual, the Academy nails it, again. Tempos spot on, excellent phrasing, great recording quality, no pushing sentimentality... just real clean artistry, with soul. I can only imagine that the music was (or is) played as written. Somewhere Fauré, Ravel, and others, are all smiling.
Perfection in music
As usual, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields does it again. A most impressive group, I'm happy to say that I am an avid patron of their music. Sir Neville Marriner is among one of my favorite conductors because of this group. It is difficult to interpret classical music and this album is an exquisite representation of what real talent can do.
wonderful
The best writen Requiem ever. Beats Mozart's in a heartbeat. The "Pie Jesu" is one of the best preformances i've heard! Thank you iTunes!!
