The "chill" album

I hadn't got into Animal Collective until last year when my roommate showed me Merriweather Post Pavilion, and I was immediately hooked. Merriweather entices the outsider of AnCo, but for those who listen to every album and experience their different styles throughout the decade find that Feels is one of their less chaotic and more entrancing albums, with some of my favorite songs such as "The Purple Bottle," "Bees," "Loch Raven," and "Turn Into Something."

Feels is currently my favorite album by Animal Collective, although to most fans it probably falls behind Merriweather and Strawberry Jam in popularity. It is indeed more experimental than the two, crossing the bridge between their avant-garde beginnings and their more pop-sounding current theme.

Amazing

I have recently fallen into the trance of Animal Collective. It started with Summertime Clothes and then Merriweather, Strawberry Jam, Water Curses, and this one. I started listening to their entire catalog chronologically to hear the progression of their musicianship. Well, I mainly revisited their early albums because I was really turned off of them at first because the first album I had was Sung Tongs, which, incidentally is still my least favorite. A gf turned me around and I've been steadily getting more hooked on them.
I'd be lying if I said that this album is my favorite. I will say it's my favorite right now. I'm kind of prone to hyperbole so it's hard for me to really know what my favorite tracks are. Banshee Beat was the first one that really stuck out to me. I love their treatment of samples. It is more melancholy than most of their other albums.
To say I like them is a gross understatement. It's more like, they're my heart and soul. If my soul had the capacity to make a sound it would be Animal Collective. This isn't just music. This is some level of intelligence that they've tapped into. This is some plane of existence that they have figured out how to penetrate.

Simply Beautiful

Even though this album is going on 7 years old, it never fails to make me smile. I could listen to "Banshee Beat" and "Did You See The Words" for ever and even then I don't think I'd quite understand it all. Every time I listen to one of AC's albums, I always hear new things in their music, and that is what sets them apart from other artists today. Don't limit yourself to those two songs though, the entire album is a work of art.

Animal Collective was formed in Baltimore County, MD, by longtime friends and musical collaborators Avey Tare (David Porter), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Deakin (Josh Dibb), and Geologist (Brian Weitz). With a penchant for genre-hopping and studio experimentation, the group began drawing comparisons to everyone from the Residents and the Flaming Lips to the Incredible String Band and the Holy Modal Rounders.
