The lyrics in this album are phenomenal. From bright and hopeful to some dark places, all with excellent and catchy songwriting that leaves it playing in your head for days. The stripped down acoustic versions show the raw talent that Mary Jennings possesses. The song "Two Bullets" rivals Evanesence's lyrics in both sophistication and tastefulness when writing about such a dark place. Songs such as "Falling Higher" (a personal favorite) will, guarunteed, be stuck in the listener's head and will be forever loved as the song of a light hearted, energetic young loving woman. What strikes me most about Jennings' music is the rawness of her lyrics. They are uncompromising in exposing pieces of her soul, bringing a genuine and beautiful truthfulness to her songs. This to a lyricist can be frightening to an extent, to have such a piece of oneself exposed to the world, and yet she does it with unwavering confidence and boldness. It is something that many songwriters should be striving to achieve, and is undoubtedly one of the most attractive qualities to her albums and style of music. I am a Jennings music supporter and would encourage anyone to pick up this album.
