Customer Reviews

Highly recommended!

Cleverly-crafted songs, excellent musicianship, great vocals, infectious harmonies, and hooks a-plenty are qualities that help make an outstanding indie rock album, and this one has a full measure of each. Full measure. Get it? The recording is exceptionally clean, as well. Cymbal crashes actually sound articulate and musical, not just like noise. For me, the stand-out track is Let's Write a Book, but each track will have you humming along. Buy this one, dust off your air guitar, and enjoy!

Solid Album

Great melodies. Smart hooks. If you like XTC, you'll really like these guys. I'd say their a modern day version of XTC. Andy Partridge would be proud. If you haven't heard any XTC, go out and get some. One of the great and under-rated bands of the 80s.

Actually, it is their third album...

...and the first two are equally worth checking out. And while you're at it, you might as well track down School of Language and The Week That Was (side projects by David and Peter Brewis, the two multitalented brothers at the heart of Field Music). This is one of my favorite new bands of the past decade, and (Measure) shows they're still at the top of their game. Quirky arrangements, restless odd-meter rhythms, irresistible hooks--all the elements that make perfect art-pop are present and accounted for.
