iTunes Review

Five years in the making, Fight the Frequency finds American Hi-Fi pretty much sticking to their game plan, where they perform catchy power-pop with an extra punk rock crunch. Label trouble led them to self-release it, but there’s no discernible drop in quality. Harmonies are sharp (“Acetate”) and the guitars play seamless chords that build a wall of sound that caresses the ears. If anything, the band has always been surprisingly smooth. “Lost” plays like a lite-FM pop tune with distorted tonalities from the guitar as the only orchestration. The quieter creep of “Keep It Like a Secret” makes for the album’s most attractive texture with the easeful pulse of “Lookout for Hope” and “A Taste of Crime” coming in a close second. For those who fell in love with “Flavor of the Weak,” there’s “Where Love Is a Lie,” “Stargazer” and “Recover the Stars.” The acoustic “Tiny Spark” completes the band’s portrait circa 2010.

Great music!

This is a really cool album. I recommend "Lost" it's a really good song and one of the best in the album. Really great album and worth buying.

great album

so yeah, all their other songs from the early years were all like "immature" and they were more oriented towards that whole teen agnst music, they were all great, but now that their old audience has basically grown up and is more in the 18 and up range its cool to see that they kinda matured, but still kept their rhythm from their previous albums. kinda like what The Maine did where their album "Black and White" is more adult like. so yeah get this album, its worth putting down the money for it

Hmm

LOVED all the other albums...this was not worth the wait to me. There is no energy! These guys spent too much time playing behind Miley Cyrus as her back up band....sad....still love the other stuff though.

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Drummer Stacy Jones already had his hand in rock & roll prior to his gig with American Hi-Fi. Having been a part of some of the 1990's biggest alternative acts, Letters to Cleo and Veruca Salt, Jones turned his experience inside out for his own musical project. While working on Nina Gordon's Tonight and the Rest of My Life solo album, Jones looked toward the vibrancy of Cheap Trick and cast the healthy rock sounds of American Hi-Fi. Jones, guitarist Jaime Arentzen, bassist Drew Parsons, and drummer...
