I was surprised...
I saw the Charlie Hunter Trio with Erik at Higher Ground in Burlington VT, and listened to this disc on the way home (a nice 2 hour drive.) I was expecting more of the great organ work Erik did with the Trio, but I did not get that. Instead I got a decent set of jazz from the sizeable (7 member) orchestra Erik leads here. A real team effort that grooved and flowed nicely. My favorite tracks were probably Firefly and Lustre. Overall, I missed the organ, and the production is ok... not great, but Erik should be heard. This is good stuff... check it out.
Great way to spend an afternoon
Erik Deutsch, keyboardist for the latest incarnation of the Charlie Hunter trio, and best known as the multi-dimensional counterpoint to Charlie's guitar acrobatics, cuts an amazing jazz swath on his solo effort, Fingerprint. The atmosphere is cool and sunny. Standout tracks include Tokyo and the title track. If you like Erik's stylings with Charlie, you will love exploring this creative, standout release.
