A solid album
This album has, I think, four excellent tracks - Elbows, Romance is Deafening, Fire Engine, and Old Dream. It is worth buying for these alone, then throw in Manilla NSW and you've spent your money well. Its classic Darren Hanlon - wonderfully poetic lyrics (esp Elbows), great acoustic guitar on the quieter tracks and excellent instrumentation on the others. As much as I love this album, I'm only going with 4 stars, based on it having a couple of weak tracks. But buy it. If you like Darren Hanlon enough to get here, its worth it. Seriously, Elbows is one of my top ten songs of all time. And obviously that means something to you...!
