A Melodic Firestorm of Sound

There is something quite entrancing and engaging about Andy's ability to mix the serene with the sinister at Fire at High Sea does exactly that. It is a musical journey that moves along with a sense of urgency - one that is both peaceful and reckless. Like fire, which can be warm and comforting when controlled - yet destructive and chaotic when racing down a dry slop, this album captures both ends of the spectrum. How can the same electric guitar on the track "Looking at the Sky" call you out for quiet walk on the beach and then bludgeon you to an emotional pulp just a few tracks later? Simply put - because Andy has taken great care to create an emotional music-scape of songs that rage, flicker, and burn. The overall effect is very haunting. His musicianship shows on every track, a simmering mixture of guitars, bass, drums, keyboards - without being overdone - even the songs that are a bit more "angry" and still very melodic. If you like HORROR MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS or the music to CRIME DRAMAS you will LOVE this album. Don't think it's all dark and threatening though. There are some surprisingly lighter, brigter moments when Andy plays acoustic guitar and softens it up a bit, but even then, there is a sense that something ominous is approaching and that is what pulls the album all together into a ominous, melodic firestorm of sound.

Take a listen to Calm Before the Torn, Chasing Mother Nature, Murder Beach, How Long 'Til We Move On to get a good sampling of what's here. Then buy the whole album and take the journey for yourself.

The Mood is Set!

Love it. It build in intensity at times then settles to a soothing guitar on the next track. The album is a personal experience and is best enjoyed in solitude. I often need soundtrack, concept or Instrumental music for Painting or Drawing and this totally fits the bill. May have to give him some credit for my work!
I love the harder sound of "Chasing Mother Nature" and the melodic and graceful treatment of "A Moment of Rest" (Reminds me of Alice in Chains).
Keep em coming Andy...
