Excellent
My first thought of re-recording the songs is kind of a turn off, however, I found it can be a good thing. The new recordings arn't quite as hard as the originals, but they have made each of their songs sound more individual. The songs don't have the same ongoing pound throughout them, now more flowing. The riffs are more distinct and the solos more defined in this cd. Call it beautiful. "The Awakening" is a great song and should be bought without a doubt. The new recordings ARE indeed the same songs. If you already have the first two cds, it might be a better idea to just get the new song.
good album, just not great like Pride of the Wicked
I love War of Ages. Pride of the Wicked will probably be one of my all time most favorite albums. So when I heard they were re-doing their very first album I was a little worried. How were they going to top Pride of the Wicked with old material? Well, they don't. This is a good album; any War of Ages fan should own it. It just doesn't knock you on your butt and blow you away. It actually sounds like the same song, every song. Here is the formula: double bass drum, stop: guitar scale run, double bass drum stop:growl, double bass drum, etc. Hopefully this album was just a way to whet the fans appetite while they work on new material.
Why
really whats the point? I think the old cd sounded better.
