Looking forward to blue skies ahead
It's been 2 years since Eisley last put out new music. "Combinations" was a dark, melodically spastic, but beautiful record. While it was a good album, I prefered the band's debut effor "Room Noises" more. Now, with new music from the band, I'm glad to see that the band has finally found a more melodically pleasing sound. I'm mostly reviewing the two new songs and not the Garage Band Demos, but the two first songs are both excellent songs fully of enchanting Stacey vocals and the usual thick texture of DuPree intstrumentation. Melodic surprises fill both songs and continue to make Eisley the unusual and exciting band that they are. "Ambulance" is a dark song reminicent of "Many Funerals" or "Invasion" off of the last album and "The Valley" is a catchy song.
The only things missing here are Sherri's vocals (which I prefer) and Eisley's signature fantasy lyrics. Instead the lyrics of both songs are centered around needing a redeemer and going through tough times. Looking at some of the things that the DuPree family has gone through over the past two years, it's not such a surprise that this would be a lyrical theme, and the progression from imaginative fairy tales to reality's struggles is only natural, but I'm allowed to miss it just the same.
Using this EP as a preview to LP3, I'd say we can look forward to good things in the future.
Glorious
As always, their music is beautiful, poignant, uplifting, everything. Ahhhh, love love love for them fills me. Melodic and inspiring. Meaningful, powerful. Did i mention beautiful?
When they get down they get up again!
I counted down the days until this ep came out! Eisley has their own sound and is very refreshing. Room Noises is my favorite album but from hearing this ep, their new album will be their best yet. Ambulance and The Valley are so beautiful with the vocals and 192 days is such a cute old fashion romantic disney song. Bookmark this band!!
