Really good EP

Moonsorrows Tulimyrsky EP really should be considered a full length because of it's length it's over an Hour longer than most bands Full Length's. Tulimyrsky is a very intertaining Folk metal album with Black/Death/Viking/ and Symphonic elements throughout. Best songs Tulimyrsky my longest song in my library and I have a lot of really long songs and it's not even Moonsorrow's longest song, a very unique cover of Metallica's For Whom The Bell Tolls from their Ride The Lightning Album (Also the only song on this album in English, Taistelu Pohjolasta which showcases Symphonic Black Metal tendencies, and Hvergelmir. Recommended to fans of Moonsorrow, and fans of Folk Metal with really long songs.

Worth The Money

this is a very generious EP, i mean think about it, your getting 5 VERY LONG songs for a very low price, if you love moonsorrow this is defnetly the way to go, or even start out

Good, but...

I started off listening to Moonsorrow with Kivenkantaja, and that album is still one of my favorite albums ever. I was someone who called Moonsorrow my favorite band for a long time, and even today, I would count them among my top ten. I love almost all of their songs and all of their albums. This EP, though, is sadly lacking. Tulimyrsky is probably my second favorite Moonsorrow song after Jumalten Kaupunki. This is one of the best songs I've ever heard. The nearly 30 minutes flies by for me. It is such a wonderful song, full of beautiful and metal moments that keeps my ears interested the whole time. That ebing said, the rest of the album is really difficult for me to listen to. The only song on here that comes even close to being as enjoyable as Tulimyrsky is their remake of their own song Taistelu Pohjolasta, and even this sounded better on their second EP (released a LONG time ago). They cut it down by four minutes and managed to remove four of the best minutes the song had to offer back then. It still sounds good, its just missing some of its best parts. The rest of the stuff is...well, not so good. I don't know if hate is the right emotion, but I certainly detest their Metallica cover, and Back to North is iffy at best. It might be worth getting for Tulimyrsky alone and if you're okay with having some not so great songs in addition to one of their best for five bucks, I would say definitely spend the money. I would feel bad about telling you to buy this album if you don't have much of an attention span though because it will take you a long time to fall into Tulimyrsky if you can't put up with the length. This EP is longer than a lot of their regular albums and has some great moments, but its only for the patient and the long-time fans.

Biography

Genre: Metal

Years Active: '00s

Formed in 1995 by cousins Henri (guitar/keyboards/vocals) and Ville Sorvali (bass/vocals), Finland's Moonsorrow traced a path similar to that blazed by their countrymen Amorphis by combining death and black metal with heavy doses of atmosphere and Finnish folk traditions; but theirs was arguably an even more ambitious and epic approach. A number of demos, including 1996's "Thorns of Ice," 1997's "Metsä" (meaning "Forest"), and 1999's "Tämä Ikuinen Talvi" ("This Eternal Winter") laid the groundwork...
