I am going to have to disagree with the person who reviewed before me who compared these guys to Paramore. Now I love Paramore and I know that Hayley Williams likes this band, but I don't think that comparison is fair.
Sheena has a very distinct voice that is both strong and sweet and almost nothing like Hayley's. Overall, this music is both easy to listen to and complex. They lyrics are refreshingly unpredictable, while the drum line keeps you on your toes. The songs are short and they get their point across much more succintly than most artists.
Lemuria really manages to put their own spin on punk, making it sweet, but not syrupy, and complex, but not overly-emotional.

This is what music should be.

This band is amazing. It's much like Paramore, but it has a lot of indie-ness to it. Good job Lemuria!

Sheena Ozzella and Alex Kerns had already known each other for several years (including a spell where they were a couple) before forming Lemuria during the fall of 2004 in Buffalo, NY. The two looked to bands like the Lemonheads, Superchunk, Jawbreaker, and Hüsker Dü for influence in crafting their own punky, melodic indie rock. With Ozzella on guitar, Kerns on drums, and Adam Vernick on bass — all three shared vocal duties, though Ozzella took the lead on most songs — Lemuria got busy...
