Great straight-ahead Bluegrass

Just what this music should be. No great big surprises, just rock solid singing and playing. The version of Rabbit in a Log is especially good.

Classic

Yes, the production is a bit muddy (or is it because of iTunes muddy BS rip on it?) but Jimmy and Dr. Ralph, my all time two favorite bluegrass singers ever make this a 5 star compared to anything that is out there now, period. Josh Turner, go back home to mama, boy!

Blessed with a great tenor voice, traditional bluegrass singer and guitarist Jimmy Martin mastered his craft as lead vocalist for Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys for much of 1949-1951 and again in 1952-1953. Martin's vocals and his dynamic guitar playing both complemented Monroe perfectly, and in the opinion of many, he was the finest lead singer and guitarist Bill ever had. In 1951, between stints with Monroe's band, Martin joined with the Osborne Brothers, forming the Sunny Mountain Boys. Though...
