Album Review

Five Lessons Learned, the Swingin' Utters' second album for Fat Wreck Chords, builds on the breakthrough of their first, A Juvenile Product of the Working Class. They don't depart from their hard-hitting retro-punk formula at all — there's nothing here that couldn't have been recorded in 1978 or 1980 — but their sense of humor is sharpening, as are their hooks. There are a couple of weak cuts, but they speed by so fast you won't even notice them, and that makes this the group's best record to date.

In my top 5 of all time,in any genre of rock

This is The Swingin' Utters at there finest. What makes this record so special to me is there is no stinkers at all. The LP flows from begining to end without loosing and energy, emotion or melody. Social Distortion's ex-bassest John Maurer(I'm not sure if that's how you spell his last name) fills in on bass guitar, but you really won't notice to much of a change in the traditional Utter's signiture sound. This is thier most definitive LP with Product Of A Working Class Invirovment coming second. Of coarse this is my opinion and I have some friends that think The Streets Of SF is there best. One thing that is fact, Five Lessons Learned is a must buy and worth the price of admission, fan or not.

swingin utters at their best

This is probably one of the finest punk albums out there. Every track stands alone as a great song and all together makes for a great album. Five Lessons Learned is a must have for any fan of the Swingin Utters, any new fan of the Swingin Utters, and any fan of punk, rock or just music in general.

IIIIIIIIIIII$WINGINIIIIIIIIIIIIIUTTER$IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've listened To swingin' utters since i was 5 and i don't see my self stoping any time soon. I enjoyed this CD more than their self-titled and a juvenile product of the working class, but not by alot! their all good! This is the best CD for someone new to the band to get. It has their widest display of sounds of any of their albums. It has Great western songs (both acoustic and electric) That use many instruments, it has a ska song (unpopular again), and some of the best melodic all out punk songs of any of their CDs. Favorite 5 are: Tell me lies, picture's perfect, as you start leaving, good people, and unpopular again. Buy and enjoy, cheers.
