Album Review
Versaemerge's 2010 debut album, Fixed at Zero, finds the Florida rock outfit delivering a collection of driving and passionate emo-pop/rock. Featuring the vocals of Sierra Kusterbeck, Versaemerge will certainly draw some quick comparisons to such female-fronted contemporaries as Paramore and Evanescence. In that sense, such songs as "Figure It Out," "Stranger," "Your Own Lov.e.," and "Mythology" reveal the band's knack for yearning and powerful rock numbers. Similarly, the album's title track and "Fire," featuring added male vocals, are ear-grabbing numbers that should appeal to fans of anthemic modern rock.

Angry, Powerful & Beautifully Orchestrated Alt Rock
Well folks, VersaEmerge has done it. With their debut album Fixed At Zero, they took their potential, revealed in earlier EPs, and took it to the max. The opening track starts out with a gypsy-esque, quiet beginning, and explodes with power in the chorus - and this is what this band is best at. With beautiful, prose-like lyrics that bring to mind abstract imagery, powerful guitars, intricate layering of instrumentals and the haunting vocals of the lead singer Sierra Kusterbeck, this album brings to mind a fantasy movie's soundtrack, the likes of which haven't been seen since the soundtrack for Nightmare Before Christmas.
The few downfalls in this album are only minor - a few tracks, such as Up There, were a little too dreamy, while another, Your Own LoVe, followed too far into the footsteps of another female-fronted band, Paramore. However, the unique vocal style of Kusterbeck and the intricately layered instrumentals (all arranged by the band's brilliant writer-guitarist, Blake Harnage,) pulls the album back up into a 4 1/2 stars.
Another track I must point out, as will everyone else, is Lost Trees. The track starts out simple, with an acoustic guitar accompanying Kusterbeck's voice, starting soft and mellow, before an explosive last verse, weaving key lyrics from other songs in and out of the loud, powerful guitar's melody. It sums up the sound of this band - while at first it may sound simply soft and mellow, this band can be loud, angry and powerful, hitting just the right chords.
All in all, an excellent album if you're looking for a good experimental rock album. I predict it will top the rock charts by the end of the year.
VersaEmerge
What a wonderful album. But I don't agree when peolple say, "We might be looking at the next Paramore," because although both bands have similar sounds, they are two VERY different bands, and I think any fan of both Paramore and VersaEmerge would agree. This album deserves nothing less than 5 stars, in my opinion <3
Versa is Emerging
VersaEmerge has been one of my favorite bands for a very long time! I have looked forward to this album for over a year now. They always get compared to Paramore, but by purchasing this album, you can see the huge differences between not only their lyrical ability, but Sierra Kusterbeck and Hayley Williams have absolutely no similarities in their voices. This album will you take you on an adventure, it will make you think. VersaEmerge's lyrical ability is one of my favorite things about them. They are unlike any other band out there today and can not be prepared. Get ready to see a lot more of them in the next few months!
